There is something funny happening with time..

I'm looking at my posts from last night. Their time is wrong, at all of them. Most has jus jumped one hour ahead of time. But the one I tried to fix went 12 hours ahead.........

I don't know how to fix it, but I think it have something to do with my using a 24-hours time format (as we tend to do here in Norway) And the blogger are set on a AM/PM mode. When I tries to make the time 0:14 (an example) - it turn out to be either 1:14 or 12:14.... Because there are no zeroes..

Well, there is no big deal! I should be in bed by midnight anyway :o)
Enjoy you day!!

Sunshine is shining, I send a bit to you!

Lime recipes

I do have some recipes where the LIME does all the difference, I'll post them from time to time. But I also would like to get some new one! Do you have a recipes with a touch of LIME you want to share??? Please do!!! Use the comment below or send me an e-mail.

I've thought about angels all day

... how about you???

The reason is I've had two places to speak too people as a minister. It is nice to talk about angels. We should do it more often :o)

In the Bible angels are mentioned at least 300 times. So one day in the year of our church dedicated to St Michael and all angels - is the least we can do! Sometimes I think we are too afraid of taking about things that are somewhat mysterious.... But there is no reason! If we could understand everything there is, then we would take Gods place. And our God would be a small and weak God if we understood everything He does.

I love angels. They make me safe ;o)
They show me how much God really cares fore us human beings.

God bless you kindly!

A day for the angels!

One more, and then I call it night! May God keep his angel watching over us all, and Bless us with his kindness and love! Posted by Hello

This is the angel in all his/her glorie.... An picture of St.Michael, the guardian angel. I'm not shore if this are sharp either I'm sorry to say! Posted by Hello

Tomorrow, the 29 th of september, is the day for the angels and St. Michael. In Norway we have returned to an old tradition of selebrating this day. I will do it by this, and by another coming later. Use the day to think about and read about angels. Sent from God to protect and to be a messenger. This picture I had over my bed as a little child, it still gives me a good and secure feeling. It is not a sharpe picture though.... Posted by Hello

This is a test of Opera as webbrowser

I'm now trying out Opera as an alternative webbrowser..... Maybe I will use this one?? I'm not shore, but I want to see how it works, I'm tired if good old internet explorer cutting me short.....

Anyone with experience with this one?? Let me now!!

Oh no! There are buttons missing! No color, and no changing size - I don't like that!!! :o( And no chanche of writing in HTML it seems either.... Too bad!

I do still read the books by Alexander McCall Smith about Mma Ramotswe, the first lady detective in Botswana. Now I read book number 4 " The Full Cupboard of Life", and here is not only one - but three quotes:

"I want you to find out about these men," said Mma Holonga. "I want to see wich men are interested in my money and wich are interested in me."
Mma Ramotswe clapped her hands in delight. "Oh, this is the sort of work I like," she said. "Judging men! Men are always looking at women and judging them. Now we have the chanche to do some judging back. Oh, this is a very good case to take on."

... the African way, where people would call out and converse with one another from opposite sides of a road, or across a wide expance of bush, careless of who heard. Such conversations could be carried on by people walking in different directions, until voices grew too faint and too distant to be properly heard and words were swallowed by the sky. That was a good way of parting from a friend, so less abrupt than words of farwell followed by silence.

"The trouble is that men would never be able to do what we do," she said. "Most men will just not cook. They are too lazy. They would rather go hugry than cook. That is a big problem for us women. If we started to do other things, then the men would fade away and die of hunger. That is the problem."
"We could train them," said Mma Ramotswe. "There is much to be said for training men."
"But you have to find a man to train," said Mma Seeonyana. "And they just run away from me....."

As I promised: here is this weeks quiz! Please answer as a comment by Friday, and the winner gets his or her name in bold letters :o)

  1. What does the Norwegian word KIKKERT mean?
  2. Is there MIDNIGHT-SUN in Oslo??
  3. How many "books" in the Bible have LUKE as its author??

A slow morning....

Today I'm just taking it slowly.... slept a little bit longer than yesterday. Took a long bath, and read a new chapter in my book. Soon I'm going to leave for a trip to town, and my friend. But I'll get there, no stress today!! I couldn't resist a tour of the web while eating breakfast, but now I'm logging off!

Maybe later today there will be a quiz, or early in the morning tomorrow!
Have a good day you all!

A little thought....

I complained earlier about to much time spend on job.... But maybe the problem is too much time spent on the computer and on the web????

Well! I didn't think so either! :o)

Have a good one!

What shall I do to get some rest??

Sometimes I'm wondering if too much of my time is lost in work, and thinking workrelated..... Not to say that I don't love my work - I really do! But maybe I would have done it better if I could catch a break now and then!??! Maybe it is not that at all. Maybe I just have to much on my mind??

Either way, I must find a way through this - I can't go on being this tired and feeling like an old rag! Tomorrow is my day of, I'm going to visit a friend. I think I'll borrow some of her time, and discuss this with her - she's a smart lady :o)

Blue, blue mountain...

Just had to try if my Helloprogram works. It sees like it, now I just have to figure out how to send this to the right blog........ And there it was :o) Posted by Hello

This Sunday we have a feast and gives thanks to the Lord for all the gifts of autumn. Our text are short - but with big consequences if everybody lived by it! Please visit the Norwegian Church Aid by following the link in the heading! The text is from Luke 3:11.

Sunday "morning"

Sitting her and putting my last touches on the sermon and service today. It is so nice to have time enough to think a little as well as write....... Sunday is one of few mornings I am out of bed early (even though it is hard on Sundays too!) - often I have not written down the sermon, so that's what I do most Sunday mornings. The text and the "plot" I've thought about for nearly a week, so the sermon is often nearly finished in my head.

But still - maybe it is time for a change, I think the Saturdays then will be even better :o) We'll see!

Have a good Sunday! Welcome to church!
God bless you all!

Couldn't help my self, had to post one more before the coffee is finished.... :o)

Here is a cartoon from Reverend Fun, pleas visit the site for more cartoons!! (link in the heading)

I'm not shore if I dear to say it.....

But I think I've resolved most of my problem with the computer.....!! Yaj! If it is true, and the next hours and days will show, then I am so happy. This last week has been tiring - not knowing what was wrong and not knowing how to fix it.

Sadly I was infected by a worm, but now I've at least deleted that one (in fact it was two...) So now I'm going to make me some hot and warm coffee, read the newspaper - and just relax and chill out :o)

I'll be back with this weeks coolest cartoon from Revrendfun later on!

See you later!
anne berit, wormfree at last ;o)

Last week I tried post something each day for you to read, think about or answer. It didn't last long before I couldn't keep up with my original plan. That's why I now write this....

For now I will post this sometime during the week:
  • a quote from the Bible (usually on Sunday)
  • a quote from a book I read, or a quote I stumble upon on the web
  • a quiz about Norway and Christianity
  • a link to a nice or fun place
  • this weeks funniest cartoon from reverend fun - in my opinion! (usually on Saturday)

Well, then I'll try again! Have a good weekend!

God bless!

Love from anne berit :o)

Take control

......... over your time!!

It is so easy to get lost in everything there is to do, and so difficult to just relax and let go! I've decided to keep my focus on this. I need some time to do nothing, and I need some sort of control over my use of the hours, day and night.

In Norway we have a project that has as it's goal to focus on time and our use of it. In the heading there is a link to their site, most of the text are in Norwegian - but there are some articles in English as well. The name 07-06-05 - says when the project is over (at least in this form...) It is Norwegian date format, so it means June 7th in the year 2005, if you wondered...... :o) Now it is under a year again - will we get control???

Come join us in our struggle! It is worth it that's for sure - because with time to spend on whatever we want, we'll get happier than money can ever make us!!!!

Soon there will be pictures again ;o)

I'm sorry to say that I can't get Hello to function properly right now, I wanted to post a autumn picture. But I'll wait ;o)

Have a good one!!

I promised a link to the webpage I write for on each week! Here it is :o)

Den norske kyrkja i Høyanger

I found this...

A quote by Oscar Wilde:

"I never travel without my diary. One should always have something sensational to read on the train."
Nice one!!!

Rambling on....

It is so nice to sit at home and write, I shore hope that this will go well ;o)

Today has been a good day, even though I got tired! All the pastors and even a new member to our team, was gathered most of the day. There is always good to meet and chat with fellow pastors. We've have a lot to talk about. And our leading pastor have prepared themes to go through so the time are going quickly. The last hour I usually begin to feel tired, not because it is soo boring but rather because there is so much to digest after a such day.......

I went to my office and wrote this weeks thoughts and ideas for next Sunday, you can find it on the net - but it is only in Norwegian, in a few minutes (or hours..) I shall post a link to the site...... And then I went home. It took some time to find more energy, but now I'm up and walking :o)

Hope that I can do some work on this machine of mine tonight. I never thought there was so much to download to get me back to normal............ but I'll get there!!

God bless!!

Yesterday I took a break

I wasn't here. It was kind of strange, because I've gotten used to writing the blog every day at least once. And it wasn't because I was tired of writing.... but my machine at home was acting up again! Seems like the line to the web is so slow, that everything takes an eternity to load or update. I hope this is only temporary! I miss jumping out on the www whenever I want to. I miss writing my blog at home in the evening!!

Yesterday was my day off, a very rainy day it was. I stayed at home - even though there I miss my blog :o) The rest of the week, I'm out here again - at work every day.......

Take care!

Sunday evening = rest!

There is a sensation of peace and calm that comes after finishing a service. I can't describe it, but I guess it is similar to the fridayfeeling after a week at work. Only that this sensation not only are because I'm finished, but because the service we're held together has given me something that linger in me.

Now I'm going home for rest and food. If I run I will reach a favorite TV-series also (McLaouds Daughters - ops, not quite shore of how to spell the namne...)

So have a nice week!
Love from anne berit c",)

I'm soooo glad!

The service went well.

Many people attended, and there were a good number of children! The three youths did a good job as "Ministrant", and it seemed like they thought so themselves as well!

I like a service were children can be children (and run..... and walk about) we do need to give them room as well. Who has decided that only those who can sit still and be quite are welcome in the church????!! Let the children worship God with their body, let them be in a place were God is worshiped. Then we can learn from them, and let go from time to time. I they can learn from us and participate!

Good Sunday and God bless YOU!

Each Sunday you will find a quote from the text preached over in churches here in Norway, this week the quote is from Luke chapter 10, verse 41-42.

"Martha, Martha" the Lord answered, "you are worried and upset about many things, but only one thing is needed. Mary has chosen what is better, and it willnot be taken away from her."

This will be a busy Sunday!

I have to services today. One with children and youths in focus, and one "ordinary".........

The first one is in a church close to where I live. We've invited four years old, and are presenting the youths who attend confirmation class. I hope it would be many people there, it is nice too be together on Sundays.

The other one is in a church far from here (in hours! Not kilometer) I must take an one hour trip whit ferry and there is a twenty minutes drive from there. In that church it wouldn't be many people, there usually are not.... But it is good to come together and find fellowship in the church anyway.

Have a good Sunday. God bless you!

See you in chuch! c",)

Do I dear to dream??!!

Have you ever waited for an answer to a question that means a great deal to you?? I guess you have :o)

I wait for an answer that can turn my world up side down! But I do not dear to be shore of a positive answer. I'm afraid of a negative one, and all the extra work it then will be.

Sometimes I let my self imagine how it would be if the answer is positive. It is a good thought! I really like it - even though nothing will ever be the same. Well I don't care, - what I want is far better than what I've got - I'm shore of it!! Even though I know there will be a lot of work, and little sleep - it is worth it!

Soon my waiting is over, next week or the week after that I will know the answer to my application for adoption of a child. Maybe I'm the one sitting on a plane down to Ethiopia in a few months?? I dear to dream for just a little while! :o)

Answers to Tuesdays quiz...

On Tuesday, there was a quiz for you to answer - but no one did(!) So, then I have no name to honor in this blog......... But here is the answers:

  1. The highest mountain in Norway is GALDHØPIGGEN
  2. Luke in the Bible was a doctor
  3. The Norwegian word ELSKE does mean to love
  4. We do have mosks in Norway, at Dovre mountain (they are big, hairy animals - who love cold weather and snow...)
  5. Maria and Marthas' brother was called Lazarus
  6. TELEMARK is skiing downhill outside of (prepared) ski track

More question next Tuesday: Answers are welcome :o)

I'm a little bit angry with my computer!

It doesn't function as I wish!! I've now restored everything back to scratch, and have a job to download updates and more... But the machine does shot down before I've finished. Then I must start from the top again! Grrrrr.....

I've also just have an analog telephoneline, so the speed is slow.... So when a download are supposed to take three hours and it stops after two...., you understand my anger don't you!!?!!

Well, I can't don anything with it today anyway. Soon I'm traveling across the fjord, and nearly 60 kilometers east on the other side...... I and my confirmation classes are meeting for a day in the church.

After, tonight, I'm going to try to meet my friends at the "camp" close by for a chat! Maybe I even can take a little trip now if I finish this blogwriting.....

So: have a goood day!!
See you soon c",)

Just one of those days!

Were everything is piling up on top of each other....... With little time to get a overview and some air! But it will get better, I just know!

Today it is rainy again. Pouring down. But no wind to speak of, so it's not so bad at all (nothing like Ivan, who is blowing everything to pieces in the Caribbean - hope that life is spared today!)

Later in the afternoon I'm meeting my two favorite 2-years old. They are twin girls, and just adorable. I'm so lucky to be a part of their life, and look forward too each meeting with them. Their mother is pastor as well, and this weekend the twins (and their father) are accompany her at a weekend for the youths who attend her confirmation class. The "camp" is just down the road for me - so I'll meet them as well :o)

In my spare time at home, I'm trying to bring my computer up to speed - but it takes time I'll have to admit that. Now I have gotten my Norwegian version so it is just a matter of time before I'm up and running like I did before. Can't hardly wait!

The sun is shining

Soon we will gather to pay our last respect to a friend. Say farewell for now, and we're meeting over there....

I thank God for the sunshine, it does make it a little bit easier - even though it's still sad. It's like God see us and know that we need this little extra help to cope with this day.

I shall read from psalm 23 in the funeral. It is a psalm that I love, about God that's always has this care for us - even in tuff and saddening times. He shall led us to green grass in the end. And I know my friend is with God now - that is a comfort!

Just before I'll jump out of www there is one more thing to say.
Each week I will present something or someone to pray about.......

This day I will ask for prayer for a family who just lost a dear member. She, who had her 60th birthday a few months ago, was a member of our churchstaff. She did a lot for others without thinking off her self. Late last fall they discovered cancer, and last week she died. Tomorrow we shall meet for her funeral.

Join us in prayer for her closest family, for the funeral and for the following days without a beloved mother.

My day with youths'

Of this days total 9,5 hour workday, most of the time went to youths'. Either preparing or being with them in confirmationclass, and in a group preparing the service on Sunday. I love working with this age, but it is also challenging. Many times I wonder: "Do they even hear what I'm saying?" and "Do Jesus matter in theirs life?" Maybe I never know, but this I know: They'll surprise me!

Now I must run home, Gilmore Girls are starting every moment :o)

God bless!!

Each week you'll get some question about Norway or Christianity. Send me your answers as a comment. You will not get rich by participation (!) But you'll get your name in a blog here on Friday if you have the highest score......... Be shore to leave me your namne =)

This weeks question:
  1. What is the name of the highest mountain in Norway, and how high is it??
  2. What did Luke in the Bible do for a living?
  3. What does the norwegian word ELSKE mean??
  4. Does Norway have any mosks?
  5. Maria and Martha had a brother - what was his name?
  6. TELEMARK is a kind of skiing, what does it mean??

Take care!!

Love anne berit ;o)

Sermon about Maria and Martha

On Sunday I am going to preach about Maria, Martha and Jesus (From Luke 10:38-42) .

The story itself is a lovely story (in my ears!) of everyday life in a family. A guest (or rather guests) have arrived and there is much to do. I imagine that Martha is one of those people who always do a lot for other people. That is her way of showing that she cares! With Maria on the other hand, it's different. She wants to be near the guest, show how much she cares by being close and listen. Two ways to approach equally appreciated by the guest, it seems. Even thought Maria's approach maybe was something for Martha to try - there is also much "godswork" in cocking and cleaning!

In our church there are this Sunday different ages, from 0 to over 80...... We have invited those who are 4 years old. And the youth who attend confirmanion class shall be presented for the congregation. So they will get the attention this time. But it's going to be a service with many things, and I have made my self promise that it will take no more than an hour. I'm not shore if that is possible :o)

Tomorrow I shall meet three of the youth's mentioned above. They shall participate both in preparing the service - and have specially things to do in the actually service on Sunday. I'm looking forward to meet them and learn from them. What do they think about the text I wonder??

Tomorrow I'll know :o)

It's raining men, Hallelujah!

Well, it's not exactly - but wouldn't that been nice... ;o)

It is raining thought, big time! The western part of Norway is known for its rain, so today is just like the picture people have about this area: .... it's rainy and gray...... But as the picture on my blog shows that's not always true!

Yesterday I realized that the summer is long gone. It became dark so fast, before nine o'clock in the evening. In the middle of summer, there is no darkness at all for about two- four weeks! Soon there will be dark when I leave for work, and dark when I return..... the evening sets at five in the darkest period around Christmas here were I'm living. In the northern part of Norway there is no daylight at all!

I'm not shore how I feel about it, it's sort of a thing that always has been. And even thought there is little light the autumn and winter, there is also more time to spend indoors. The evening is long, and more gets done than in the summer, I think. At least for my part that's the case.

Maybe this autumn also will bring good news, that will sure brighten up my day!!!!!

This one is from "Morality for Beautiful Girls" by Alexander McCall Smith, book three in the series about Precious Ramotswe.

She was a traditionally built lady, after all, and she did not have to worry about dress size, unlike those poor, neurotic people who were always looking in mirrors and thinking that they were too big. What was too big, anyway? Who was to tell another person what size they should be? It was a form of dictatorship, by the thin, and she was not having any of it. If these thin people became any more insistent, then the more generously sized people would just have to sit on them....

I'll say!! :o) Have a good night you all!!

Nothing like good support!

Now I am getting a Norwegian version in the mail soon, so then I will do the hole process once more..... but until then I am still out here, because with everything else being not at all at place - there is nothing wrong with my internet connection! I am soooooo glad =)

Well I'm sort of out here again!

Today I deleted everything on my computer and restored the machine with a restoreCD. So now my machine are running in English, not Norwegian - and few things are like they were before....... Think I have a job to do with restoring it all back to "normal" - so that is what I'm going to use the rest of the day to do.

I'll be back as soon as possible......
Just glad I'm connected to the www again, this weekend gave me abstinence.

Something to think about!

Today it's Sunday (you didn't know that did you :o) ....)

But to the point: each Sunday I will quote a verse from the Bible that connects with the church years Bibletext in my church here in Norway. Sometime the verse also is a comment to the events in the world at large.

Here is this Sundays quote:
One who was there had been an invalid for thirty-eight years. When Jesus saw him lying there and learned that he had been in this condition for a long time, he asked him, "Do you want to get well?"
Read more in John chapter 5, from verse 1.

What do you think?? Was it necessary to ask the question by Jesus? Please let me know about your opinion and thoughts and send me a comment!

lørdag, september 11, 2004

Well, the house isn't any cleaner....

I'm still without connection at home, so now I'm sitting at work again :o) Some way to spend my weekend off!

I've deleted and relaunched. Tried to get my computer to cooperate like it should, but I'm not shore I can make it this day........ But by tomorrow I'm up and running I hope - have a lot to do out here in space (or my computer goes to the doctor on Monday)!

It's kind of funny: it's not possible for me to stop thinking and trying to make it work again, why can't I just let the machine be??!?? But: just me knowing that something is wrong makes me angry, and then it's on my mind every minute..... I'm totally "stuck" c",)

Tomorrow I'm going to a service at my neighbouring congregation, I'm looking forward to be a receiver and not just a giver... As a part of the congregation that day, I will off cause also give to the fellowship - but I'm not at front and "controls" it all. If you understand what I mean?!?

The darkness has fallen upon us here in Norway, and the rainy day makes it even darker. Were heading for winter up here in the north. Nothing makes a late autumn-evening so giving and bright as candlelight - so now I'm going home to lit a bunch!

See you in church tomorrow :o)

And then a little pause..... memory off those whom lost their life
in the tragic terroract in New York that we shall never forget. I also send my love out on the www to all families and friends who lost loved ones that day.

Love and God Bless!
anne berit

Some connectionproblems at home!

I have some problems with the internetconnection at home, so now I'm sitting at work posting this. It's so tiring whit dataproblems, especially today, when I have time to spend on the www. But I can't sit here all day ether....

I'm thinking hard and are going to fix the problem, but for a little while it may get silent from me :o( I'm sorry to say!

Today it is gray and rainy, and the wind is back - but the weather is still warm. My goal is to clean up my house (must needed!) And it seems like I have some extra time on my hand.....

An angel

watching over you Posted by Hello

A chat with God

On my way through Blogs today I stumbled into this, and I couldn't resist putting it on my page. Follow the link in the heading to visit the page I've found it :o)

God: Hello. Did you call me?
Me: Called you? No. Who is this?

God: This is GOD. I heard your prayers. So I thought I will chat.
Me: I do pray. Just makes me feel good. I am actually busy now.I am in the midst of something.
God: What are you busy at? Ants are busy too.
Me: Don't know. But I can't find free time.Life has become hectic. It's rush hour all the time.
God: Sure. Activity gets you busy. But productivity gets youresults. Activity consumes time. Productivity frees it.

Me: I understand. But I still can't figure out. By the way,I was not expecting YOU to buzz me on instant messaging chat.
God: Well, I wanted to resolve your fight for time, by giving you some clarity. In this net era, I wanted to reach you through the medium you are comfortable with.
Me: Tell me, why has life become complicated now?
God: Stop analyzing life. Just live it.Analysis is what makes it complicated.

Me: Why are we then constantly unhappy?
God: Your today is the tomorrow that you worried about yesterday. You are worrying because you are analyzing.Worrying has become your habit. That's why you are not happy.
Me: But how can we not worry when there is so much uncertainty?
God: Uncertainty is inevitable, but worrying is optional.
Me: But then, there is so much pain due to uncertainty...
God: Pain is inevitable, but suffering is optional.
Me: If suffering is optional, why do good people always suffer?
God: Diamond cannot be polished without friction.Gold cannot be purified without fire.Good people go through trials, but don't suffer. With that experience their life become better, not bitter.
Me: You mean to say such experience is useful?
God: Yes. In every term, Experience is a hard teacher. She gives the test first and the lessons afterwards.

Me: But still, why should we go through such tests? Why can't we be free from problems?
God: Problems are:
P urposeful
R oadblocks
O ffering
B eneficial
L essons to
E nhance
M ental
S trength.
Inner strength comes from struggle and endurance, not when you are free from problems.
Me: Frankly in the midst of so many problems,we don't know where we are heading...
God: If you look outside you will not know where you are heading.Look inside.Looking outside, you dream.Looking inside, you awaken.Eyes provide sight.Heart provides insight.

Me: Sometimes not succeeding fast seems to hurt more than moving in the right direction. What should I do?
God: Success is a measure as decided by others.Satisfaction is a measure as decided by you.Knowing the road ahead is more satisfying than knowing you rode ahead. You work with the compass.Let others work with the clock.
Me: In tough times, how do you stay motivated?
God: Always look at how far you have come rather than how far you have to go.Always count your blessing, not what you are missing.

Me: What surprises you about people?
God: When they suffer they ask, "why me?"When they prosper, they never ask "Why me?"Everyone wishes to have truth on their side, but few want to be on the side of the truth.

Me: How can I get the best out of life?
God: Face your past without regret.Handle your present with confidence.Prepare for the future without fear.

Me: One last question.Sometimes I feel my prayers are not answered.

I've had some problem posting today - this is a test!

AND THERE IT ALL WAS, even those posts I thought was lost!! So nice!!!

I didn't get a letter in mail today ether, maybe tomorrow ;)

Waiting is driving me crazy!

It's been at the office 3 months now, my application for adoption. That's how long they said it would take. This waiting is driving me crazy! I'm so unsure of the result, but tries to hope for the best :o) If I'm approved in this first run, I'm a lot closer to be a mam which I want more than anything! If I'm not I will appeal, and that will take some time before a new answer....

I don't think it's anything in my mailbox for a least two weeks. That's two more weeks to crazy on c",)

Have a good one!

Præsteside: "en ide-samling for præster

Tomorrow is so packed with things to do...

that I'm still sitting here, not willing to go to bed. 'Cause then I soon will have to wake up again!!!

Lucky for me most of the things there is to do tomorrow are things I enjoy doing. Most of the day I will attend a meeting about confirmation, I hope to catch a good idea or two. Later is it meeting with the churchboard - and we shall dream about what a church is, try to find or DREAMCHURCH!

Now that's not a bad day is it???
So unto bed, then I appreciate the day even more c".)

yammi!!  Posted by Hello

One day off :o)

My job has a habit of taking all my time (or it feels like it from time to time) - this day is my day off. I'm not even going to re charge my cell phone until late in the evening, and maybe I'll just don't take the phone. I've decided that this Monday I'm just do whatever comes in my head. I think I will work some more with my homepage, but I'm not quit shore........ :o)

When I woke up the sun was shining, but now the gray weather has taken over again. Well it doesn't matter, I stay in today and enjoy all the joy a computer can give c",)

When I'm bored a book is my next project... (I just love the adventure of Botswanas No. 1 Ladies' Detective Precious Ramotswe, now I read the 3rd book - Alexander McCall Smith is the author)

But right now I desperately need some coffee!!

Good morning to you to!!!

My candle is lit! Posted by Hello

Remember: A light in the window!

All over the world there are shining light in windows. A memory of the many children who died in Osezia, Russia. Lets spread light across the world!

And it worked!!!

The congregation walked around and wrote down their opinion on the three question/topic I had picked out. Many of them used the time to talk about what a fellow human being is with each other while they were waiting in line for pen and paper..... Even outside, after the service, when we had churchcoffee and there was a shortage of napkinds, someone said: "we'll be like good fellow human beings and share those few napkinds there is"! This sermon will stick with them - and with me, that's for sure!! =o)

I'm so happy that it worked out so fine, also because the answer I got were good and to the point. It was the congregations turn to preach today :o)

Good morning!

There is just one day a week I can honestly say I'm out of bed early - and that is Sunday(!) Usually I have some unfinished business to take care of before I head for church. Even thought it is difficult to leave the good and comfy bed, it is nice to start Sunday early on. Today it's rainy and grey, the autumn are here that's for shore! But the bird are singing, and the temperature is quite al right - so few compliant from me. (The link in the heading goes to the Norwegian Lutheran Church homepage.)

I'm wondering how my sermon will work out today, it is exiting to try something new - and a little bit scary :O)

Have a good Sunday!
God bless!!!

At last I'm smiling at you c",)

It took a while, but in the end I understood what there was to do to get my picture posted. So now I'm smiling at you :o)

Nice to see you too!

An idea for my sermon tomorrow

A silent discussion* about what a fellow human being is! I want to spread sheets of paper throughout the church with headings like: Who are a fellow human being? What is a fellow human being? ...and so on! And then let people wander around in the church writing down what they think on the papers... for 10. min or so.

After I will read aloud what we together has collected of ideas and meanings. I will also say a little bit more about the text for closure. Heading for my sermon: Gods blessing reach us through fellow human beings who belive!

A good idea, or an idea to forget???

* means that people write down what they think instead saying it out loud...

Darfur, children on the run

.......and here is the picture! Collected from the site mentioned below. Posted by Hello

Picture from Darfur, a lot of people on the run. Visit to learn more about Norwegian Church Aid's work.

Of cause we can change the world!

This is the motto of the Norwegian Church Aid's youth group: "Changemaker".

Sometimes when I'm looking at the world and all the tragic events I wonder - is it possible??
Today children in Russia died from terror, today children in Darfur, Sudan, died of hunger and war - and in other places, and for different reasons more children died this past day.

I try to teach my confirmants about what a persons life is worth, what they do mean and what kind of value their life has (as well as others) - it is one small way of making the world a better place........... 'Cause if you are worth nothing, does it matter if you're dead or alive??

I'm a B-person! If I can sleep in, I'm good and happy :o)

This mornig it seems impossible to get out of bed, so at 9:15 I was still there....... I had a lot of things to do at the office, but I'll do them later on - we need to rest as well as work!

Today I'm preparing two funerals for next week. I've wisited one sister already, and are going to meet a daughter later. I can't say that this is my favorite part of the job, but it means a great deal to help the family with this very last task. I'm privileged to meet people, speak about what was and give their loved one one the last honor. I'm living in the countryside, so it's common to meet the family in their home. I like that. And it seems easier on the family as well.

And today the sun is shining! I love that c",)

A great deal of time each day goes to think about how it will be to get a child in my life. Here is a picture I fell for, I don't know were I found him, and hope I'm not stealing.....  Posted by Hello

07-06-05 - Mai

I was talking about time running to fast, this is a site (in Norwegian, but try "english please") - a lot of good thought's about time, and how to keep it simple, and find quiet times in the midle of everything! Try it ;o)

And then she ran!!

This has been a day with little time to rest my thought's. I've jumped from this to that, and so on!

When I first started out as a pastor I wanted to be a person with time, time to spear, - with other people. Time for talk about whatever we wanted, without any glimpse toward watch at all!

But my day is't like that. Sometimes I feel like I run, even tough I stand perfectly still. It's my head that's running, packed with ideas and vision, with things I must remember and things I should have forgotten a long time ago. Sometimes I just wish for time to think things through...., and then I run along........

I have no solutions, and think it is simply part of been alive (and that is a nice thing!!) - but sometime it get to me. After all I have a wonderful job and good friends. No reason to complaint! (but this is my blog - so I do it anyway).

Maybe I can make the time stand still, but well, if that happens I will probably just be bored after short time! I like to move, and like changes - it's a good thing, really, makes you feel alive!

So then I've comforted my self - hope that you do okay as well :o)

A whole day!

I have been blogging for a whole day now, 24 hours - and I love it! Good to have a place for my thought's, and to open it in anticipating - is there any comments to me?? (there usually are not..... but still!)

So far there have been non, no wonder - there isn't many who knew that this blog excised, but now I've been telling some of my closest friends. Maybe they will get the bug as well?

I hope so!
This is a great way to communicate.... kind of different from regular mails, and SMS.
I think I will stay for a while :o)

good night!!

To love each other... one of our highest goals as Christian! The most important thing. But how???

Paul gives us a load of tips in the text set at September 5th this year (Norwegian churchyear): Romans 12:9-15

  • let the love be sincere
  • keep to good things
  • love each other as brothers and sisters
  • honor one another above yourselves
  • keep your spiritual fervor
  • serve the Lord
  • be joyful in hope, patient in hard time and faithful in prayer
  • share
  • practice hospitality
  • bless and do not course
  • rejoice with those who rejoice
  • cry with those who cries

Puh! It's quite a list, - I'll say! Can we do all these things??

Not in our selves, I think, - but by Gods love traveling through us, we can. 'Cause the love must come from him, not ourselves. All starts with Gods love toward us, without it we can do nothing! With it we can even love our enemies!

Good thing Gods love is a gift given freely to us, with grace!
May God Bless You with His Love!

As a pastor I work with sermons, so each week, around the middle of it, I will write down some thought's around the text for the coming Sunday. I have worked with sermons for kids, and have kids and youth as a focal in the congregation. Of cause much of what I write are for adults as well.

My Prost (which is leading the pastors in an area) have a site were I post thought's about children and service on a regular basis. This site is in Norwegian:

Here on the blogger I will write in English, and use stuff from the site with link above and more.

Think sermons and service with me!!
In Norwegian: Tenk preike og gudsteneste med meg!! c",)
