New Year

It has been a strange new year celebration so far. Normally it is celebration with rejoicing and smile, this year it has been most a time to think and hope for another day without feeling so helpless.

In our churches the services has been highly affected by the tsunami, we've prayed, we've chosen songs that suited the sadness of this years beginning and the sermons have been full of it as well. I've spoke about tsunami; a name we just learned, a name who make us scared and fill us with sorrow and fear. The tsunami took the life of many more people than we can manage to understand.

But there is a stronger name: JESUS. It's a name which bring peace, security and hope. Jesus brings light where there is dark and life where there is death. He brings future where it is no tomorrow - he is our hope.

The world is still full of sadness over what happened, a sadness for war and hunger happening other places as well. Jesus doesn't take it all away - but he is there and he is here. Like he promised.

Thanks for your post. Here in Norway there is a strong tradition for Jesus and church at Christmas time, but not all are happy about bringing Christ to Christmas here either. We call Christmas JUL though, so there are no figthing over the name.

Now I'll visit your blog! God bless!
